THE UNBEATEN PATH
A pilgrimage into the Sahara.
Where there is nowhere left to go...
but within.
Morocco. 26.11 - 02.12.2026
There are paths we follow.
And there are paths that appear only when we begin walking.
For centuries, people have crossed these lands.
Traders. Nomads. Seekers.
People carrying salt, stories, prayers, knowledge.
Some were travelling toward distant cities.
Some toward sacred places.
Some were born here.
And some, perhaps, were travelling toward themselves.
This November, we walk again.
THE CALLING
There comes a moment
when the noise becomes too loud
and the distance from yourself too great.
Something begins to call.
Not toward more.
Toward less.
Toward silence.
Toward vastness.
Toward the simplicity of one foot
placed in front of the other.
The desert is waiting.
Not to give you the answer.
But to make you quiet enough
to hear your own.

THE JOURNEY
Six days.
We leave the noise behind and enter the desert on foot.
Guided by the Amazigh people who know this land as home, as they were born here, we walk towards the vastness of Erg Ezahar from the village Bounou, M'hamid and back—together, and in silence.
Our days become simple.
We walk.
We rest.
We drink tea.
We eat together.
We contemplate.
We listen.
We feel.
There will be gentle practices to support the body and mind.
Periods of silence.
A meditation night beneath the desert sky. A night of music, stories, celebration.
Sunrise and sunset. Sharing simple moments. Tasting the beauty of a more essential life.
The desert doesn't give you ready-made answers. It gives you the silence necessary to hear your own answer.
The desert promises nothing.
It simply gives you space.

WE ENTER AS GUESTS
Guided by the Amazigh people,
who know this land as home,
we walk from the village of Bounou
into the vastness of Erg Ezahar—
and back again,
together,
in silence.
The desert is not ours.
We enter it with those
who call it home.
This journey is an exchange.
An encounter between people,
across lives and worlds,
held by the same earth beneath our feet.
Intertwined by the love of silence.

THE RHYTHM
Out here,
time begins to move differently.
We rise with the first light.
Tea is prepared.
The camp awakens slowly.
We walk.
We rest beneath the shade.
We continue.
There is nowhere we need to be.
The desert asks nothing of us.
Only that we are here.
As the sun begins to descend,
we gather once more.
Tea.
Food.
Fire.
Conversation.
Silence.
And above us,
a sky that remembers every traveller who has looked up before.

THE NIGHT
There comes a night
when we do not sleep.
From dusk until dawn,
we remain in silence
and meditate beneath the open sky.
No conversation.
No distraction.
Nowhere else to go.
Only the breath.
The body.
The mind.
The desert around us.
And somewhere in the long darkness,
the night changes.
We stay awake until the light returns.
THE CELEBRATION
From silence and deep presence, a wave arises.
A pure energy.
It has always been here - only covered.
We meet around the fire with our friends, musicians and storytellers — in music, movement, improvisation, stories and whatever the night brings.
An inner wedding.
The still and the wild.
The feminine and the masculine.
Silence and sound.
The lover and the beloved.
Both meeting in the same heart.
This is the night of deep union,.
Of transformation.
Of radical expression.
Free.
Unleashed.
Alive.
Celebration as a natural state of being.
A life no longer waiting to be lived.
THE UNBEATEN PATH
The next morning,
we walk again.
Two more days,
back towards the village.
By now, we have touched a certain intimacy
with the walk,
with the desert,
with our walk in the desert.
The feet know something.
The body knows something.
Walking itself has become a close companion on the journey.
A way of listening with the whole body.
And from here,
the unknown begins knocking
at the gates of your soul.
There is no path to follow within.
As the path reveals itself
as you walk.
We carry reverence for what we have encountered
and openness toward what we have yet to meet.
The way ahead will not always be visible.
We do not need it to be.
One foot meets the earth.
Then another.
This is the unbeaten path.
THE HOSTS
No pilgrimage is walked alone.
This one is held between worlds —
by those who know the inner landscape,
and those who know the desert beneath our feet.

HAMID
The Desert Man

CALI KHADIJA
The Balkan witch
And then, there is you.
You are not coming here to consume an experience.
You are invited to find your own place within it.
To listen.
To participate.
To know when to step forward and when to leave space.
To be aware of what you bring into the circle.
Everyone is part of the holding.
Everyone is part of what we create.
This pilgrimage is not something prepared for you.
It is something we enter together.
Cali Khadija holds the inner thread of the pilgrimage.
Her work brings together Buddhist contemplative practice, the intelligence of the alive body, silence, poetry, music and the radical intimacy of meeting life as it is.
She will walk with you, practice with you, sit through the night with you, sing with you — and hold the space for whatever the desert reveals.
Not to show you the way.
To walk it with you.

Different ways of knowing.
One journey.
~
Born in this landscape, Hamid holds another kind of knowing.
The desert is not a retreat for him.
It is home. It is his mother.
He and his community welcome us into their world and accompany our passage through the Erg — sharing their knowledge of the land, their homes, their food, their stories and their presence.
They not only hold the outer landscape for us.
We walk together.
